Almost like a painting, the Tara River (Balkans Region) has a mystical quality, beckoning me to slip down its carved canyon path. (And take a dip in the turquoise pools.)

Faerie Glen (Isle of Skye, Scotland) is another beautiful and mysterious place. What I wouldn't give to have a croft nestled in those little hills.

A wonderful shot under the trees in Faerie Glen. You can see just how other-worldly the area truly is.

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is one of the many medieval villages I'd like to explore along the Lot River Valley in France.
I want to stroll down this path and smell these flowers...

...and sip coffee as the sun and mist rise over the River Lot.

Know of any place I should add to my list? Comment and let me know.
Chios Island, Greece--tiny medieval towns built into mountains (to hide from pirates seeking mastic), beautiful beaches, and delicious food!
ReplyDeleteI think you write/read fiction for the same reasons I read/watch fantasy and sci-fi books and shows. I would love to travel abroad. Ireland is #1 on my list. Your photos were beautiful choices.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite places is Kylemore Abbey, County Galway, Ireland and, of course, the Cliffs of Moore, Ireland. :)
This is great, my list is growing!
ReplyDeleteLeigh, Chios sounds amazing. Can you post links to photos?
Alisha, this is the first I'm hearing of Kylemore Abbey. It's gorgeous. And Cliffs of Moore -- excellent choice!
Having been to the Isle of Skye not once but twice, I just have to say if you go there please take me with you so I can see it again. JCrew had a photo shoot there recently and I was filled with longing for that incredible place.
ReplyDeleteHere is an album from our honeymoon--the first part of the trip was on the mainland (Paltsi, in the Pelion mountain range). Someday, we'll make it back. :)

Leigh - Those photos were amazing! Chios is definitely on my list now. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteNLT - I think you showed me that JCrew photoshoot, wasn't that at the Eilean Donan castle? Beautiful. I just love the colors in Scotland. There's something about the overcast skies that make the landscape appear richer.
